The Parable of the Hidden Treasure Matthew 13:44 and

The Parable of the Goodly Pearl Matthew 13:45-46

In the parable of the “Hidden Treasure” Jesus once again relates to His disciples, the impact of the kingdom of heaven in he “soul of men”.  Jesus had previously explained how   the kingdom of heaven impacts the knowledge and the will within men’s soul.  In this parable Jesus states that the kingdom of heaven will also impact the emotions of men.  The parable details that when a person begins to experience the “joy” that is experienced from being led by God’s Word, this individual will willingly surrender all of his ways to Christ’s’ Lordship.   Jesus continues to state that the virtue of having the kingdom of heaven in ones soul is initially hidden from man, but later it is hidden in the individuals heart.

In the parable of the “Goodly Pearl”  Jesus teaches that when a person seeks for meaning in life,  the ultimate purpose for his life is found in the kingdom of heaven.  As it is in the parable of the Hidden Treasure Jesus conveys the fact that God does not interfere with man’s free will.  These parables point out that the graces given by God in the kingdom of heaven is so great, that man of his own free will, will completely surrenders his soul to God.   Both parables therefore express that all of what God has for man is experienced when men totally surrender to God through Christ.  This parable once again states as an obvious conclusion that what the kingdom of heaven offers, is  far superior to what the world has to offer.
